Join Our Movement The No Barriers Pledge

Obstacles are all around us. They want to knock us flat on our backs and keep us from being our best selves. But inside all of us is a light that when ignited propels us through seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

I pledge to live a No Barriers Life. In doing so, I am promising to harness adversity, break through my personal barriers and create a life of purpose and impact. I will always remember that regardless of our abilities, we all have some type of barrier in our lives and that no matter what barriers I face, what’s within me is stronger than what’s in my way.

Let’s do this.

I am a T8 paraplegic because I used my body to shield 2 other women from the bullets flying into my home from a gun held in the hand of my stalker. I took a .45 to the spine but both women were left unscathed. I would not change what happened because my legs are not worth more than anyone’s life. My only wish is that I have a chance to actually receive true rehabilitational therapy because I know I will walk again someday. Right now though it is hard to keep my head up everyday because I have only received 5 days of a “here is how to be crippled” style of rehabilitational therapy and I have never even gotten a proper wheelchair. I want my life back but it is a very long, slow, grueling process when you only have 2 relatives and I was placed in a nursing home because neither of them have room for me or can help me. So it is me versus the world and even though it seems like I will never escape this horror story I know that if I #nevergiveupneversurrender then I will get my life back. There may be about 100,000 barriers that the world has created for me but there are no barriers that I cannot overcome.
